Low water pressure, outages expected September 1st as BWA carries out urgent work

August 31st, 2021

The Barbados Water Authority will be carrying out work in areas across the island tomorrow, September 1st, 2021 which may lead to interrupted service in several parishes.

Urgent electrical upgrades will be conducted at two facilities in St. Thomas between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. As a result, residents and businesses located in Proute, Shop Hill and surrounding areas in St. Thomas as well as parts of St. George may suffer low pressure or water outages during the noted times.

In addition, the BWA will be making connections to a new facility in St. Peter between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., causing residents and businesses in some St. Peter districts and parts of St. James to be affected.

Meanwhile, emergency work will also be conducted at the Hampton Pumping Station in St. Philip between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Customers in St. Philip and Christ Church who are supplied from this facility may also experience low pressure or water outages during these hours. The BWA says this work is being carried out during the evening to minimise disruption to customers and based on the progress of work tomorrow, additional work dates will be announced in due course.

Those in the affected areas are asked to store an adequate supply of water to assist during the periods of work.
