Monument to the Barbadian Family unveiled

On the eve of Barbados’ 57th anniversary of Independence, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley made it clear this country remains free to make its own decisions.

Ms. Mottley was speaking during the official unveiling of the Monument to the Barbadian Family in National Heroes Square.

She says the notion her Government will do anything to denigrate the family in this country is offensive.

During her address, Ms. Mottley called on Barbadians to do more to keep the bonds of family together.

She says if we are to be faithful to our past and committed to building the best possible future the family must be at the centre of the community, our nation and the engagement with the rest of the world.
