Barbadian students now have an opportunity to earn Bachelor’s degrees in agriculture and related sciences from an international university.
This is possible through a partnership between the Barbados Community College (BCC) and Delaware State University (DSU).
Almost one year ago when the two institutions embarked on the historic journey, the response to the call for applications was overwhelming.
Speaking at the signing of a memorandum of understanding to formalise the partnership, Minister of Education Kay McConney said she was pleased that after a rigorous selection process, sixty students were selected to pursue studies in mathematics, chemistry, biology and agriculture.
Some of the unique features of the programme include the provision of cutting edge technological tools for students to work with, the accelerated pace of course delivery, and DSU student management and support system.
The Minister said those who successfully complete the programme will be better positioned to help boost the local agricultural sector and other aspects of the economy.
President of Delaware State University Dr. Tony Allen said the University intends to extend the partnership.
