Parkinson Memorial Secondary School closed today

February 2, 2023

The public is advised that the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School is closed today, as the Ministry of Health continues investigations into the reason several students and some teachers in a certain block felt unwell yesterday.

In a release, the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training revealed those affected had to seek medical attention.

Reports indicate that those individuals are now recovering.

The release goes on to note that yesterday evening, the National Petroleum Corporation (NPC) used leak detection equipment while the Barbados Fire Department tested for the presence of flammable gases in the areas of concern. However, no evidence of any gases in these areas was discovered by either agency.

As a result of the situation, there will be online classes, and parents and guardians are asked to listen for further updates on the reopening of the school.
