Pets not gifts, but long term responsibilities

As the Christmas countdown continues, Barbadians are being reminded that pets are not gifts but they are long term responsibilities.

That advice from the Founder of Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary, Karen Whittaker.

She says people tend to get puppies but are unable to handle the true demands of caring for their furry companions.

Ms. Whittaker is warning people to leave the pups alone if they know they can’t commit, as shelters across the country are already seeing high numbers of strays and abused animals.
