Police among security leadership training

November 21, 2022

Barbados is among several Regional Security System (RSS) member states that can boast of having senior officers trained in international leadership and management.

This, as three officers from the Barbados Police Service were among 20 who recently completed a three-week course with the RSS in these areas.

Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis and Grenada are the RSS member countries working together to respond to security threats to the region.

For instance, with their headquarters at Paragon Base, Paragon, Christ Church, the RSS at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic airlifted vaccines to a number of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries.

Deputy Executive Director of the RSS, Graham Archer challenged those on the latest course to use their newly acquired governance skills in their respective organisations.

The course was conducted in conjunction with Durham Constabulary out of England.

Colin Williamson, one of the course facilitators, has given participants some additional advice.
