Rain causes no result

October 23, 2023

The Barbados Pride would have been hoping to continue their winning ways in the CG United Super50 Tournament, but the rain was a spoiler in their match against the West Indies Academy.

Playing at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground, St. Augustine, Trinidad the Pride made a solid start, winning the toss and electing to field.

They held the Academy to 141 for six in 38.1 overs, with Jair McAllister and Dominic Drakes each having two wickets, with one apiece for Roshon Primus and Roston Chase.

Nyeem Young was unbeaten on 67, while Kevin Wickham had earlier contributed 43, but then the rains descended and with the ground taking the heavy showers for well over an hour, a waterlogged outfield forced play to be abandoned, causing a no result.

Barbados is scheduled to be back in action on Wednesday when they take on the Windward Island Volcanoes.

The Guyana Harpy Eagles were four-wicket winners over the Leeward Island Hurricanes in the day’s other match at the Queen’s Park Oval.

Batting first the Hurricanes put 244 for six on board. Karima Gore had a kock of 54, while Jahmar Hamilton was unbeaten on that same score.

In reply, Harpy Eagles made 248 for six, and Sherfane Rutherford was unbeaten on 105 inclusive of 7-fours and 8-sixes.
