Repairs have been completed on about 60% of the houses damaged in last year’s freak storm and during Hurricane Elsa.
The update from Housing, Lands and Maintenance Minister, Dwight Sutherland as he moved a supplementary for 14.9 million dollars to complete the work that has to be done on the homes.
According to Minister Sutherland, one of the challenges found was the extent of the damage, in that many of the houses had to be rebuilt rather than repaired.
He adds the number of houses which needed work increased from 1341 last year to just over 1500 by the beginning of this year.
