After several delays, the scheduled road work under the Accelerated Mill and Pave programme for Oistins to Thornbury Hill, Christ Church will begin tonight.
Infra Construction Inc. is set to start work from 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for about two nights, pending weather or any unforeseen circumstances.
The Ministry of Transport and Works says the work was postponed due to several challenges including the removal of mud pockets from some sections of the existing road base and subbase, and the need to conduct repairs to these sections.
To prevent further delays, the MTW has asked the Barbados Water Authority to lower water mains and repair burst mains along the route.
Traffic will be redirected to Highway U through Oistins towards Maxwell and traffic coming from Durants will be diverted onto Wilcox Ridge Road or Hill View Road.
Traffic wardens will be in place to direct vehicles as road repairs are being conducted.
