Speightstown Jetty officially opens

April 6th, 2022

The city of Speightstown is expected to be a hive of activity this week.

That’s because a major event is being held there which should provide significant business for the area.

It’s called the Sir Charles Williams International Fishing Tournament and it will be the first to use the new jetty which was officially opened on Tuesday.

Acting Minister of Tourism and International Transport Kirk Humphrey says the project, which cost just over a million dollars, signals possibilities for greater access to Speightstown.

Mr. Humphrey says the area serves as a hub for many things, including 20 restaurants, several bars and a bus terminal with transit routes to the airport.

He says this makes it attractive for long and short stay visitors.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for St. Peter Colin Jordan has welcomes all to come and be immersed in the city.
