A 72 year old man has died following what Police have described as a suspected drowning.
The deceased has been identified as Colis Elon Holder of #33 Parkinson Field, St. Michael.
Police say they responded to the report at Browne’s Beach, St. Michael in the area of Harbour Lights around 3:05 p.m. today.
Holder was reportedly in the water with a floatation device and accompanied by his wife.
He got into difficulties and started coughing and swallowing water. His wife helped him out of the water and onto the sand, where he collapsed into an unconscious state.
A lifeguard on duty, along with a doctor who happened to be at the beach, performed CPR until ambulance personnel arrived.
However, the EMTs found no sign of life. Holder was subsequently pronounced dead by another doctor who visited the scene.
