Barbados International Business week

Barbados International Business week
11 Oct

There will be a push to make the public aware of exactly what the international business sector does and how meaningful its contributions, are when the tenth edition of the Barbados International Business week takes place from October 21st to 27th.

During the launch Thursday morning at the offices of Invest Barbados in the Trident Insurance Financial Centre, BIBA president Julia Hope said there will be special emphasis placed on targeting the youth this year.

It's being done through a career showcase at UWI, Cave Hill and a school symposium at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

Mrs Hope says they will seek to debunk the myth that the sector mainly employs and benefits non Barbadians.

The week ends with the flagship two day conference at the LESC.

Mrs Hope describes it as a must attend event for anyone keen on gaining an understanding on current issues surrounding the international business and financial sectors and global trends.

There will be a number of diverse speakers from Canada, the US, the UK and Barbados.

Meanwhile the Barbados International Business Association has accepted the challenge from Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, to quadruple international business in the next ten years.

Speaking at Invest Barbados, BIBA president Julia Hope said their energy is now focused on enhancing and attracting new business.

Mrs. Hope says one sure way to diversify is to tackle the Fintech market.
