The Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union Limited's Thrift Club has seen young Barbadians saving than more seventeen million dollars with it.
The money, according to president of the board of directors Glendon Belle, contributed to the overall asset growth, which stands at over 1.5 billion dollars.
Mr Belle made the revelation as the credit union rewarded its members who have done well in several disciplines.
Winners of Barbados government scholarships, exhibitions, the 11 plus and students who performed well in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency and Caribbean Secondary Education Examinations were among those recognised.
Mr Belle says the credit union continues to stay rooted to its core values and sees youth involvement as vital going forward.
Mr Belle is pleased that Barbadians are becoming financially literate, which he says the credit union has helped to nurture.
meanwhile permission has been granted for membership of Under-12 year olds in the Thrift Club of the Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union.
Mr. Belle, expects that the move will benefit the credit union.
