Transport should remain as a social service and should not be left to go entirely into the hands of private players.

Consultant to the Barbados Workers Union, Sir Roy Trotman says it is just as vital as education and health care.

Sir Roy has announced that the union will be meeting with Transport Board Workers on Sunday at its Solidarity House headquarters to discuss some proposals made by the board.

Meanwhile Voluntary separation has been embraced as a process which the management of the Rural Development Commission will use to trim its staff complement.

Sir Roy told the media Wednesday, the decision was reached following another meeting with senior officials.

While, the last in first out method is generally touted, Sir Roy notes provisions have been made by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley to ensure two breadwinners are not sent home.
