Jamaican police are investigating the circumstances that led to an inmate being killed as he tried to escape custody during a medical visit to a hospital.
The police report that the inmate, Kevin Anthony Fletcher, from the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre, was taken to the National Chest Hospital in the Corporate Area for treatment on Thursday.
While there, Fletcher who was convicted of murder, escaped from the prison wardens.
The wardens chased and shot him.
Fletcher who fell into a nearby gully, was later pronounced dead by doctors at the National Chest Hospital.
