Barbados will save billions of dollars in energy costs by the year 2037.
That's according to minister in the office of the Prime Minister responsible for energy, Senator Darcy Boyce, as he unveiled the Barbados National Energy Policy.
The policy's ultimate goal is to see Barbados using 100 percent renewable energy, and is a result of consultation and collaboration with key players in the energy sector, taking over a year to complete.
It spans from 2017 to 2037, and Senator Boyce believes Barbados is on the cusp of an energy revolution, which will transform the sector, by the time the policy matures.
The policy seeks to ensure that energy is affordable to all Barbadians, and Senator Boyce says government is playing its part.
