At least one section of the agriculture sector is pleased with the rainfall Barbados recorded last year.
Patrick Bethel, president of the Independent Cane Farmers Association says the heavy rains of 2017 mean higher yields for their canes this year.
Mr Bethel cultivates about 55 acres of cane at the Friendship Plantation in St Michael.
Mr Bethel says what is causing a problem is payment which has been promised to the farmers.
He tells CBC News they have only been paid part of what they are owed by the factory and some of the price support for the 2016 crop.
