Students entering secondary school for the first time next month are being encouraged to choose their friends wisely.
They are also being strongly advised not to allow their circumstances to determine their future.
The challenge is being issued by Police Public Affairs and Communications Officer, Acting Inspector Ryan Brathwaite.
He was addressing the “Togetherness Social Group” 11-Plus Achievers Seminar, held last Saturday.
The Acting Inspector shared his life story to show the students that how one starts in life does not have to determine where one ends up.
He revealed that he was born to parents who were in their early teens and lived under humble conditions.
Acting Inspector Brathwaite is also advising parents that, because their children have not passed for what society considers to be a prestigious secondary school, it does not mean they cannot achieve.
During the seminar, the “Togetherness Social Group” presented students with back-to-school supplies and other assistance to help with their transition to secondary school.
