Fifteen of Barbados’ swimmers are into the finals tonight, as the 38th CARIFTA Swimming Championships also got underway this morning in Trinidad and Tobago.
Among those qualifying are medal hopefuls Heidi Stoute, who enters the girls’ 13-14 800 metre freestyle with the fastest time.
Laila McIntyre and Isabella Mayers are also in medal contention in the 13-14 and 15-17 girls’ 800 metre freestyle events, while Kaija Eastmond has the fastest time going into the final of the 11-12 girls’ 50 metre backstroke, along with Taija Hall and Jayla-Marie Blunte.
Among the boys, Joshua Ross heads into the 15-17 boys’ 200 metre breaststroke final with the second-fastest time.
Notably, the majority of Barbadian swimmers registered personal bests in their qualifying rounds this morning.
