Barbados is taking another major step towards food security with the launch of a new climate-smart agriculture project.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Terry Bascombe, says the initiative was developed out of the urgent need to transform the island’s agricultural food system, especially as climate change continues to impact farming.
The project will introduce modern irrigation methods to help farmers use less water while producing more food.
