For the first time in 27 years, Barbados’ senior women’s national netball team has failed to qualify for the Commonwealth Games.
Earlier today, organisers announced the teams which will take part in the Games set for next summer in Glasgow, Scotland.
Only the top twelve nations will feature, and the Bajan Gems are ranked 13th among Commonwealth countries and 19th in the world.
Failure to reach the Games is a result of not playing the required number of games between World Cups to maintain ranking.
To date, Barbados has played in every Commonwealth Games since 1998, when netball was added as a sport.
