The Barbados Road Tennis Open has returned for its fifth edition.
As in previous years, the men’s and women’s champions will each receive a top prize of $20,000 in the tournament, which is scheduled to run from August 15 to October 3.
The reigning champions are Shakeem Nurse in the men’s division and Sheldene Walrond in the women’s competition.
Speaking at the official launch, Minister of Sports Charles Griffith said road tennis continues to grow in Barbados and that the time has come for further expansion.
Chairman of the Barbados Road Tennis Open Planning Committee, Shawn Burke, said this year’s tournament will introduce an Under-18 division for both boys and girls.
