Deacons Primary School is closed today as officials seek to tackle a vermin problem.
Classes came to an abrupt halt Monday and again yesterday, following reports of rodent droppings on the property.
Last night, the Ministry of Educational Transformation said its Education Technical Management is currently investigating possible breaches that may be allowing pests to enter the school grounds.
Communications Consultant Gaynelle Marshall said the Ministry is also working closely with the school’s leadership to strengthen hygiene and cleanliness standards.
First Vice President of the Barbados Union of Teachers, Julian Pierre, told CBC News teachers will return once the clean-up is at a satisfactory level.
