Top Barbadian golfer Emily Odwin has opted out of the final stage of LPGA Q-School, the final qualifying round for women’s top-tier golf, choosing not to turn professional at this time.
LPGA rules require all competitors in the final stage to either turn professional immediately or defer their Epson Tour status until after the NCAA Championship in late May of next year. Odwin has opted to retain her amateur status, complete her university education at Southern Methodist University in the US, and honour her commitments to teammates and coaches.
She plans to turn professional after graduation next year.
Emily is currently in Cancun, Mexico, playing in the 2025 Women’s Amateur Latin America Championships which teed off today. Odwin was runner-up last year and is making her fifth appearance in the championship.
At the end of the first day of action she sits in fourth with a two-under-par 70.
