Government is set to implement a gun court, which Minister of Legal Affairs and Criminal Justice Michael Lashley says is a priority.
He says it is not something for the distant future or in contemplation, but an urgent matter.
And Minister Lashley says it will now take a whole-of-nation approach to stem the rise in crime.
He is also issuing a warning to the public about harbouring criminals.
