The importance of shaping well-rounded athletes both in performance and personal branding took centre stage on the final day of the I-AM conference held over the weekend at the Hilton Hotel.
Hosted by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, the conference brought together students, coaches, and industry professionals for a series of workshops focused on sports excellence and personal development.
Sports Development Officer with the Ministry, Stephen Rowe said one of the main mandates was to provide the participants with the tools to navigate the increasingly competitive world of sport.
The sessions zeroed in on key areas such as image management, public speaking, media relations and balancing sports with academics.
As Mr. Rowe emphasised, athletes must also master communication, personal branding, and professionalism to thrive at the elite level.
