Barbados’ agricultural sector is facing major setbacks after Sunday’s intense flooding swept through farming districts across the island.
Acting Chief Agricultural Officer Michael James says it will have an impact on planting schedules, but the Ministry is ready to respond.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Indar Weir, says assessments are still ongoing and while it is too early to quantify the economic losses or even determine increasing importation, he did want to give the farmers this assurance.
