The local judiciary has expressed condolences at the untimely passing of Magistrate Oliver Thomas.
The 39-year-old magistrate died suddenly on Wednesday.
A statement from the Office of the Chief Justice, the Most Honourable Leslie Haynes, noted that prior to his appointment to the magistracy earlier this month, Mr. Thomas served with distinction as a principal state counsel in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Throughout his legal career, Magistrate Thomas was widely regarded as a capable, diligent and committed advocate, marked by professionalism, integrity and a profound respect for the rule of law.
The statement added that Magistrate Thomas’ sudden passing represents a significant loss to the magistracy, the legal profession and the administration of justice in Barbados.
