Minister of Sport Charles Griffith says he has successfully advanced his mandate to further develop sport since taking office, pointing to key developments that have strengthened the sporting landscape and expanded opportunities for athletes at all levels.
Speaking on the sidelines while preparing to canvass in the constituency of St. John ahead of the upcoming general election, Minister Griffith said his tenure has been guided by a clear vision to modernise sports administration, improve facilities, and create sustainable pathways for talent development.
He noted that significant progress has been made in upgrading national sporting infrastructure, with several facilities either refurbished or newly constructed to meet international standards.
The Minister also highlighted increased investment in grassroots and youth sports programmes, with greater emphasis placed on schools and community-based initiatives.
He said this approach ensures young athletes are identified early and provided with proper coaching, equipment and competition opportunities.
