A signing ceremony between Government and the Barbados Light & Power Company Limited marks the approval of new operating licences.
And Minister of Energy and Business, Senator Lisa Cummins, says the arrangements will benefit Barbadians.
Minister Cummins adds that the new arrangement is also good news for the banking sector, renewable energy sector and private investors, noting that the negotiation unlocks more than 500 million in renewable energy investments.
She was speaking at the signing ceremony which took place at the Warrens Office Complex.
Managing Director of the Barbados Light & Power Company Limited, Roger Blackman, says the new licences represent a new modern framework to support his company’s work regulating stakeholders in advancing Barbados’ National Energy Policy.
