Another plantation owner is raising concerns about sugar cane going to waste in his fields, as the 2026 harvest remains in limbo due to the ongoing dispute between Portvale’s management and the Unity Workers Union.
Patrick Bethel, owner and manager of Friendship Plantation in St Michael, says the industrial action has never reached this stage before, noting that tensions have been simmering for much of the past year.
