Trade between Barbados and the United Kingdom reached more than six hundred million pounds over the past year.
Word of this came from British High Commissioner to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Mr. Simon Mustard, who said the figure represents a 9% increase for the given period.
Mr. Mustard noted that it reflects collaboration across several critical sectors, including financial services, renewable energy, tourism, education, infrastructure, and increasingly, the digital and creative industries.
He was speaking at the opening of the UK Trade Mission to Barbados Forum, where he assured that UK professionals and experts are committed to unlocking new value, creating jobs, and building resilience within Barbados and the UK.
The forum, organised by Invest Barbados and the UK’s Department for Business & Trade, is being attended by a delegation of businesspersons and potential investors from the UK.
It features presentations, business-to-business meetings, and networking opportunities, focusing on sectors such as renewable energy, fintech, and education.
Minister of Economic Affairs and Investment, Kay McConney, says there is a steadily growing interest from UK businesses in the wide range of opportunities available in Barbados.
