TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands, CMC – The Government of the Virgin Islands has launched a new public awareness campaign, “Business Done RIGHT,” to educate people about keeping businesses in the British Overseas territory clean and free from financial crime.
A key part of the campaign is Riley Right, the official mascot, who will appear on different platforms to help the public recognize signs of money laundering and other suspicious activities.
The goal is to make financial security easy to understand and encourage everyone to help protect the territory’s economy.
The campaign focuses on five principles: Responsibility, Integrity, Global Awareness, Honesty, and Transparency. It will highlight – How to identify suspicious transactions and why reporting them is important; the impact of money laundering and terrorist financing on businesses and communities; the importance of Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements and how to comply with them and safe ways to report suspicious activities.
The campaign is led by the National Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Coordinating Council (NAMLCC), the agency responsible for fighting financial crime in the BVI.
According to Lavonna Burrows, the National AML Coordinator – “We’ve drawn on Riley Right’s support to spread the message and encourage all businesses, professionals, and residents to do their part in ensuring that the BVI is a shining example of ‘Business Done RIGHT’!”
