KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Five Haitian nationals who were arrested during a raid at a house in the central parish of Manchester last Sunday will be sent back to their homeland.
The decision was made when they appeared in court on Friday.
The four men and one woman, who is believed to be pregnant, appeared before the court to answer to an illegal entry charge.
According to police reports, the Haitians were held during an early morning raid last Sunday, based on intelligence regarding immigration breaches and a search for prohibited weapons.
When they appeared in court, they all pleaded guilty and were each fined J$6,000 or 14 days imprisonment.
The Haitians remain in holding, pending a deportation order by the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA).
