KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – A judge Monday has set a November 5 date for the start of the hearing of a case in which a mother, Shamoya Green, has been accused of throwing her infant daughter off a rooftop to her death last December.
Justice Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton set the date during a virtual hearing at the St. James Parish Court, indicating also that the trial judge will determine if Green, who is charged with the murder of her five-month-old daughter Destiny Brown, will attend the court session in-person or virtual.
Media reports said that on the evening of December 6, last year, Green was at home with her common-law husband and other family members when she tried to have a conversation with the man about their relationship.
Green reportedly became enraged and left the room, taking the baby with her. She then reportedly took the child to the roof of the third floor of the family’s house and threw her onto a concrete pit in the yard.
The police were alerted and Destiny was taken to hospital, where she died while being treated.
