Eleven community stalwarts have been presented with the Pride of Barbados Award as part of the St. Joseph We Gatherin’ 2025 initiative.
Ten of them reside in St. Joseph, while the other is from the diaspora.
They include Ryan Brathwaite, Cleophas Gamble, Pastor Albert Cecil, Victor Sylvestor, Ava Griffith, Caleb Hinkson, Harold Hinkson, Ronald Mayers, Ethelbert Maynard, Velma Stoute, and Sandra Taitt-Eaddy, who resides overseas.
President of Barbados, the Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason, presented the honourees with their awards during a special ceremony at State House today.
Member of Parliament for St. Joseph and Attorney General Dale Marshall says many of the awardees have served their communities fittingly and it is important for their contributions to be acknowledged.
Businessman and Event promoter Ryan Brathwaite has been awarded for his upliftment of the parish through his unwavering support for education, sports and culture, and also through community restoration via youth and elderly outreach programmes.
Mr. Brathwaite says he will continue to serve his community.
Ms. Ava Griffith, who has been recognised for her volunteerism and yeoman service to her community as a retired nurse and midwife, says the award is the ideal gift for her 66th birthday, which she will celebrate tomorrow.
