Twenty students have qualified for the finals of the Ministry of Educational Transformation’s Pontifications and Poetry 2025 competition.
The speech and poetry contests will feature primary school students aged nine to eleven, and secondary school students aged eleven to eighteen.
The event, held under the patronage of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, is scheduled for November.
This year’s competition is themed Speak Up, Speak Out.
Education Officer Gloria Haynes, who announced the finalists during a ceremony at the Ministry, says the national oratorical competition empowers Barbadian youths to express themselves through speech and poetry.
Public figure Antoine Williams says he is pleased to assist in training the students in various areas, including improving their communication skills.
