The 2025 National Senior Games have been officially opened.
This was done today by Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey.
Speaking after a motorcade from Pelican Village to Golden Square Park, Minister Humphrey declared the Games open following performances from some of the island’s top entertainers, including Red Plastic Bag, T.C., and Spinny.
Mr. Humphrey said that in planning this year’s Games, the aim was to return to the original concept—allowing all elders to be involved.
This year, the track and field meet, which already has over 300 participants signed up, will be held separately from the other festivities.
Minister Humphrey believes this change has sparked greater interest in the Games, with participants registering from other Caribbean islands.
