Amendments are being made to the Road Traffic Bill, as part of a crackdown on dark-tinted windows on vehicles.
It’s part of a wider strategy to combat rising gun-related violence.
Attorney General Dale Marshall acknowledged it was a concern raised by the Barbados Police Service, stressing that daily, vehicles drive through communities completely blacked out.
He noted the approach is not limited to Barbados, as other Caribbean nations have gone that route.
Mr. Marshall says there will be some exceptions to the tint rule.
Mr. Marshall adds that this now leaves Barbadians with about two months to get their houses in order, although they were first alerted to the pending changes last September.
However, Leader of the Opposition, Ralph Thorne, suggests the intervention is inappropriate and offers no solution to the crime challenge facing the island.
The Bill was passed.
