Barbadians are already making history in CARICOM’s free movement drive.
The first nationals have arrived in St. Vincent and the Grenadines under the new full movement regime, and were granted indefinite stay.
Among them was former Government Senator and CEO of the Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority, Shanika Roberts-Odle, along with other members of the Authority.
They travelled to St. Vincent on the very day the agreement with Barbados, Dominica, Belize, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines came into effect.
The SVG Passports and Immigration Department shared the milestone on its official Facebook page, saying it was delighted to grant the Barbadians indefinite stay.
The group was attending Cannabliss SVG 2025, the region’s premier medicinal cannabis festival, which runs until October 5.
Meanwhile, in Belize, another Barbadian also made history by becoming the first national from a participating country to be granted indefinite stay there under the arrangement.
Barbadians visiting Belize, Dominica, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines can now live, work, and contribute freely, with the same rights as citizens of those countries.
