Christians in Barbados have joined others across the world to celebrate Ash Wednesday today – the first day of Lent.
The various denominations are headed to church as they begin their journey of prayer, fasting and giving alms.
An early service was held at the St Paul’s Anglican Church as that church offered hybrid options for people to participate.
Rector, Reverend Erma Ambrose says much thought went behind the switch from an evening Ash Wednesday service to a 6:30 a.m. mass.
Reverend Ambrose reminded Christians the Lenten season is very important.
