The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) says water levels across the island are falling short of expectations, but restrictions are not yet warranted.
That is hydrogeologist Jaime Paul’s assessment of the current situation. Ms Paul told a BWA press conference on Saturday that reduced rainfall is responsible for the lower levels. She says as a consequence, conservation is crucial at this time.
Ms Paul says the BWA will continue to monitor water resources closely, and restrictions, like those announced in 2023, could be recommended if necessary.
