More Barbadians are being called to volunteer with the District Emergency Organisation in their constituency.
The appeal from consultant with the Department of Emergency Management, Selwyn Brooks.
He says currently, there are just under a thousand volunteers listed across the island.
But he would like to see that number increased by at least 500.
Mr. Brooks says the department has been expanding the types of training volunteers receive.
He made the comments on the People’s Business programme.
