Barbados and CARICOM have joined the Organisation of American States in celebrating the advancement of women and gender equality in Americas.
While delivering a statement on behalf of the bloc, Barbados’ Permanent Representative to the OAS, Ambassador Victor Fernandes told the body that more work still needs to be done to achieve the regional vision in which all citizens participate in and benefit from growth.
The statement was to commemorate the Day of Women of the Americas observed on Tuesday.
Ambassador Fernandes says CARICOM remains troubled that violence against women and girls remains prevalent in the Americas.
