Barbados has presented a five-point plan for agricultural development for Small Island Developing States to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation.
It was delivered by Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Indar Weir, at the 44th General Meeting of the FAO, currently taking place in Rome.
He said the Caribbean and other Small Island Developing States, due to their geographic locations, face diverse vulnerabilities that can undermine food security.
Minister Weir also called for the inclusion of capacity building, farmer empowerment, and initiatives that involve women and youth.
