Barbados will soon have a cow itch management unit.
And according to Senior Minister, Minister of Health and Wellness, Senator the Most Honourable Jerome Walcott, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security will be responsible for managing the unit.
He says the unit is a response to the issue of cow itch, which has been creating a headache for schools and residents across the island.
Addressing the Health Services (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Minister Walcott said farmers are complaining that it is expensive to remove the nuisance from their agricultural land.
Minister Walcott also noted that the bill is being amended to facilitate a new system, which is being put in place to deal with people who make themselves public nuisances by allowing their lots to become overgrown.
