Barbados’ transition to a green economy is gathering pace.
Director of the Natural Heritage Department in the Ministry of Environment and National Beautification, Green and Blue Economy, Steve Devonish, says Government is partnering with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to make this possible.
He says that through the partnership, Government is supporting climate-resilient enterprises, expanding access to renewable energy, and fostering low-carbon innovation.
He was delivering remarks at the opening of the Small Island Future Festival 2025.
Meanwhile, National Coordinator of the Global Environmental Facility Small Grants Programme at the UNDP, Dr. David Bynoe, says that since 1994, the programme has facilitated millions of dollars in investments into communities across Barbados.
In fact, Dr. Bynoe says the UNDP programme and its partners invested more than $260,000 to host the Small Island Future Festival.
