The Barbados Association of Retired Persons is condemning the recent robbery of an elderly Drax Hall, St. George woman.
President Marilyn Rice-Bowen says the video circulating on social media showing a young man approaching the elderly woman who was making her way home from work and snatching her jewelry, is disturbing.
In fact, Ms. Rice-Bowen says seniors and others should not have to walk around fearful of being robbed and attacked.
Ms Rice-Bowen adds while she hopes the victim receives professional support, there should be ongoing conversations about how to stop such crimes.
Acting Communications and Public Affairs Officer of the Barbados Police Service Sargeant Liesl Gabriel says the matter has been reported to the police and is currently being investigated.
