The Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BCCI, has made a plea before a high-level forum in Geneva for dedicated disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation funding for Small Island Developing States.
Executive Director, Misha Lobban-Clarke, says it’s required for SIDS to implement DRR initiatives.
The BCCI official was among the panel for a Disaster Risk Reduction in Small Island Developing States discussion, part of the Global Risk Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.
She told the panel that not only do SIDS need the dedicated funds to be set aside in national budgets, but the private sector needs to be incentivised to invest in DRR.
