The Consumer Protection Act prohibits misleading pricing representations, which include unclear or undisclosed pricing.
According to the Barbados Consumer Empowerment Network’s Executive Director Maureen Holder, there are too many complaints about pricing.
She says consumers should be aware any form of pricing representation, whether explicit or implied, falls under the Act’s purview.
Further, Ms. Holder says hidden prices or verbal quotations can sometimes lead to confusion or even overpricing, putting consumers at a disadvantage.
